In recent weeks I have been running up a pretty hefty credit card bill. If only I had to show for it a gorgeous new bag, some awesome toys for Mrs T, a holiday to the Caribbean, even a few post-pregnancy clothes. No. NOTHING like that.
Instead, a slew of domestic appliances (surely every housewife’s dream) have slowly made their way to my front door….an oven, hob, extractor fan, sink, TAP… the list goes on.
Essential (ie BORING) items. Yawn.
If your eyes are glazing over reading that list, can you imagine how DULL it was researching them. I had no clue where to start. In between looking after Mrs T and trying to keep out of the workmen’s way, my poor computer was subjected to unimaginative google searches like “what is a good sink”, “best oven” etc. I just wanted someone to say… ‘Get that, that and that’.
Of course, the husband was no help at all, “I don’t give a fook…just, just get one bought and stop pratting around. I’m sick of hearing about it.”
Well, so was I!
It didn’t help that most websites selling white goods are pretty uninspiring and badly laid out – one had about 30 pages of blooming taps. Eurgh. Bloody taps- did you know they are actually more expensive than the actual sink. At the top end they can cost more than £1000. Ridiculous! I just want one that WORKS.
I could bore you for hours with my investigations but won’t subject you to that. Although, now I have a newly acquired knowledge base, I am more than happy to pass it on to save you being subjected to the same fate so give me a shout if you find yourself in same predicament. I was very actually very impressed with Appliances Online – Competitive prices and an excellent delivery service which actually gives you a time frame on the day so you’re not waiting in all day!
Suffice to say, I was SO glad when they were all ordered and I could move on. Just waiting for them to be installed so I can admire my handy work, and believe me, it really did feel like work!
(Oh, and I just can’t wait for the bill to come).
