I have discovered (the hard way) the complexities of tackling the rain with a buggy as wet weather poured down upon London.
My first mistake was NOT BRINGING A RAIN COVER for it (well, it wasn’t raining when I left)! Foot muff and hood SOAKED. Fortunately Mrs T stayed dry.
OVERLOADING – Pushing a buggy through driving rain while holding an umbrella and bunch of flowers with a bag dangling on the handle bars is NOT doable. Nor is wearing a NON-WATERPROOF coat without a hood. Not advisable (thank goodness I picked up my hat before I left otherwise would have had a wet hair and smudged mascara nightmare).
It seems the only sensible thing for me to do now is invest in a practical, hooded rain coat. Eurgh. I know, style completely out the window! But staying dry and warm and having both hands free is pretty essential when pushing Mrs T around the streets of London. Oh, so is a pair of vaguely waterproof shoes… My fabric UGGS weren’t a good choice.
Thankfully, the day brightened up as soon as I got in the warm and saw some of the new mums from my work. SO lovely to catch up and see their little ones! They are really interested in each other now – it is fantastic to see them interact. Mrs T even had a hand holding moment with one of the boys.
They all looked very coordinated – wearing an array of various stripey outfits. It seems stripes are very much in for kids whereas for Mum plain, sensible waterproof gear is a must this Spring.
