One of my favourite ways to explore a new city is to pull on a comfy pair of shoes or trainers and discover it on foot. I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest planner in the world so often the wander can quickly lose focus and we are forced to retire to the nearest cafe to regroup and dig out the guide book.
But getting maps and guide books out just isn’t very practical – not to mention rather archaic. Now we have a little one in tow, it’s also not very practical to go on guided tours as she can quickly get bored.
So, self-guided walks are the perfect solution…and what better way to access it than on your phone. I have 20 codes from GPSmycity to give away for an app for a city guide of your choice.
GPSmycity has walks for over 470 cities around the world and is available on Android and IOS (iPhone and iPad). To see the full list of cities available click here.
On our trip to Copenhagen, I had the help of the app which allowed us to explore the Danish capital at our own pace.
It gives a number of suggested walks to explore the city of your choice and also shows how far away you are from the main sights and lists nearby shops, bars and restaurants.
You don’t need an internet connection or have to endure huge data roaming charges.
What I really liked about the app is that it also gives you details about the main sights and landmarks so I sounded incredibly knowledgable to my hubby and daughter as I reeled off some historical facts from my phone. It really is a lot easier than lugging a guide book around (and far more 21st century).
I have 20 codes to give away which will allow you to download the full version for free (usually worth £3.99). The giveaway is open to everyone, no matter what country you are in.
To enter – comment on this post stating which city you would like the app for and add your details into the Rafflecopter widget below too. The competition ends Thursday 17th March at midnight. Good luck!

Hey Elizabeth! I’d love the GPSmyCity app for Ljubljana, Slovenia! My teammate and I are planning on spending a few days together there in April, and we’ll both be newbies to the city! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

Hi Elizabeth – sounds like a great giveaway! I would like the GPSmyCity app for Copenhagen. I am visiting in May with one of my best friends who has just found out she’s pregnant (after a long struggle). I’d like to make it really special for her with lots of insider info and I suspect we’ll be doing a lot of walking/sauntering

Oh what a great idea! I hadn’t heard of this app before – it’s really fantastic. I don’t enjoy bus tours at all so this would be perfect for our next holiday. Thanks so much for sharing with us at #bloggerclubuk x
