Unique Gift Ideas For Mother’s Day

Imagine your other half was so thoughtful they assisted your little ones to buy a truly unique gift for Mother’s Day. How much did you have to imagine? If it’s a lot, then you may want to forward this post onto them because it’s almost Mother’s Day and I have come across some beautiful, unique gifts which I am sure you – and your mother – will love.

At a recent blogger’s brunch, with the theme Mother’s Day, I was introduced to two brands I was unfamiliar with, Historic Newspapers and I Just Love It. The latter is one which really lives up to its name but I’ll start with the former (and prepare to be impressed).

As I sat down to the beautifully set table, I noticed a newspaper. Ah, perhaps I could catch up on some news (I was childfree after all). But upon closer inspection I saw the newspaper was from the day I was born! Wow! What astonished me further was when I opened it, a certificate of authenticity fell out which read: “It is not a reproduction but a complete and original newspaper”. How was that possible? Turns out Historic Newspapers has the world’s largest collection of privately owned original newspapers spanning four centuries. Being a news journalist it particularly appealed to me but what a unique gift for anyone!

Historic Newspapers sells other nostalgic gifts too including archive photographs of your local area. I love seeing what life used to be like on the streets I walk daily, don’t you?

Now, I don’t know about you but gift is made even more special when it’s personalised. The other brand I was introduced to, I Just Love It, has a huge range of personalised gifts, some of which were showcased at our bloggers’ brunch. In our place setting was an initialled china plate, a personalised egg cup, vintage dessert spoon with the heart-warming words ‘There’s No Better Mum Than Elizabeth’  and a vintage butter fork with the cute caption “spread love”. They are both from the award-winning vintage range  ‘La De Da! Living’ (such a fab name).

Adult Ladybird books are all the rage at the moment, I Just Love It allows you to personalise them. I was given a very amusing book entitled The Mum which will have you grinning and nodding along as you relate to the scenarios.

The hi-ball glass (£9.99) was another winner, saying ‘Mum You Are Awesome’ on one side and on other ‘To Elizabeth, Happy Mother’s Day’. Obviously you can add the wording you want. It is proving a very handy vessel for my G&T on an evening.

I Just Love It also do some amazing gift experiences such as a hotel break (from £100), afternoon tea and an Aston Martin V8 experience.

My favourite gift was a Shimmer Silver Ball Bracelet (£29.99) with a heart pendant engraved with my initials. It has tiny bells making a soft jingling sound which my nine-month old is a big fan of too. It came in a black velvet gift bag. One of my top gift recommendations for Mother’s Day. I really DO just love it.
