Review of a day out at Peppa Pig World

The staple show of most preschoolers, Peppa Pig and her friends have entertained children for well over a decade. It’s a global phenomenon but here in the UK, we have our own Peppa Pig World located within Paultons Park in Hampshire. A trip to Peppa Pig World is a way for fans of the TV show to step inside the world of Peppa, George and all the colourful animal characters. If you are looking to visit Peppa Pig World UK, here’s our review. We visited on my eldest daughter’s 4th birthday. We also had a 11 week old baby, so I will have some tips if you are visiting Peppa Pig World with a baby too.

Review of Peppa Pig World

The theme tune greeted us as we walked through the entrance not Peppa Pig world located within the bigger Paultons Park theme park. Straight in front of us, a giant Peppa Pig looked down on us like some kind of god-like presence. There was no mistaking where we were. We had finally made it to Peppa Pig World and my daughter was in heaven. It is fair to say she was a teensy bit excited, armed with her Peppa Pig soft toy.

We had put off visiting the theme park until my daughter’s fourth birthday. We wanted her to be tall enough to go on all the rides in the park and old enough to remember the trip. Fair enough, right?

Going in the summer holidays it was pretty busy with queues for the main rides but there is a fair bit to explore and we spent around five hours there. Although it is part of the bigger Paultons Park, we didn’t have time to try out many of the other rides outside Peppa Pig World aside from the carosuel…what is it about kids and carousels? Children under 1 metre can go on all the rides in Peppa Pig World (and you don’t have to pay for them).

It was a hot day when we visited and was already busy when we arrived around 11am. The first thing you see is the giant Peppa Pig looking at you from the top of her balloon ride, luring you onto her rides or rather, the queue for the rides! We waited around half an hour to go on each of the three main rides but when Peppa Pig is involved, patience appears and my daughter was relatively well behaved. Fortunately, I’d brought her sun hat and we were doused in sun cream as there is little shade when waiting.

Despite looking like it lasted barely a minute when waiting in the queue, the balloon ride did seem longer when we were on it and you get great views of the park from it – so I guess it was worth the wait. Paul had the privilege of occupying Mrs T on Mrs Rabbit’s Helicopter Flight and probably the best ride, Windy Castle.

Everywhere you look at Peppa Pig World are life-sized versions of the characters and objects from the TV show. From ducks swimming on a ‘pond’ and Grandpa’s steam train to Peppa Pig’s house and Daddy Pig’s car. Everything has been carefully replicated from the popular show which remains the top pick of children around the world.

As well as the main rides, there is a themed outdoor playground and ‘Muddy Puddles Water Splash Park’ as well as an impressive soft play area with an amazing slide where we lost Mrs T for a good half an hour.

Daddy officiated the soft play while I sat outside eating expensive sandwiches and drinking coffee from Daddy Pig’s Tummy Cafe (yes, really). I was being subjected to some kind of Peppa Pig inspired version of The wheels On The Bus when a six year-old girl came to say hello – or rather to admire my youngest – who was 11 weeks old at the time. After getting some insight from her, I followed her sound advice and headed to Peppa Pig’s House.

It was a hit and Mrs T dragged us in it twice to see Peppa and her family making pancakes…and bad jokes. Thankfully there was no queue.

Another quieter ride although tamer is Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip –  worth checking out! Just beware of the fun fair games outside it which will eat your money in a bid to win giant soft toys. Mrs T also enjoyed riding in Daddy Pig’s Car.

But it was while my husband and daughter were queuing for Windy Castle ride that I came across a couple of familiar faces – George and Peppa! Like celebrities on a red carpet they greeted their fans, getting photos taken and shaking hands.

By their side, a chaperone, presumably in case any of their young fans got over exuberant although with a heavy costume on even a water pistol prank aka Tom Cruise is unlikely to have bothered them. In fact, it would have been gladly welcomed on this hot day. So there was I living the moment my daughter would have loved. Not quite enough reason to return. Not just yet anyway.

Is Peppa Pig World worth visiting?

Mrs T had a fantastic day at Peppa Pig World and still talks about it regularly. It was the perfect fourth birthday treat and we got a lot of pleasure from seeing her so happy. It was a really fun family day out. I have promised we’ll go back when our youngest daughter is four. Mrs T is very excited at this prospect and we did see some older children in the Peppa Pig section. Certainly, there is plenty more for older children to explore at Paultons Park.

I've always loved to travel so when my two daughters came along, I didn't stop. Travelling as a family can have its ups and downs but I love showing my children the world and helping others navigate travelling with children in tow.

    1. Ah, that’s interesting! I think there are definitely some Mrs T wouldn’t have fancied when younger although we maybe should have gone a little bit earlier so we didn’t have to pay for her…she was just over 1 metre.
